How to choose sizes

One of the hardest pieces of jewelry to measure is a ring. For most necklaces and bracelets, the size is uniform, or can be easily adjusted by means of a chain. But with its strictly individual measurements, the ring needs precise measurement to fit the finger.

How to determine a ring size

Different ring sizes can be designated in many ways. This mainly depends on the manufacturer's preferences and existing standards. Usually, the measurement is calculated based on the inner and outer circumference of the circle in millimeters.

To find out what size ring you need, take a paper strip 3-4 mm wide and wrap it around your finger. Mark where the two ends meet. With a ruler graphed in millimeters, measure the tape to the marked place. This way you will find out the circumference of your finger in millimeters. Then use the table to determine your size (see column "Bulgarian standard (inner circumference in mm).

The size of the fingers on both hands is different. Get the size of the hand you want to wear the ring on.

If the base of your finger is much smaller than the knuckle, measure both the base of the finger and your knuckle and choose a size between the two. This will help you choose a size that will allow the ring to slide over the knuckle, but not be too large to be worn comfortably at the base of your finger.

How to choose a ring size when it is a gift

Use a different ring: if you are buying the ring as a gift and don't know the size, you could measure the diameter of a ring that you know your friend likes to wear and fits.

If the ring will serve as a gift, you can borrow another from the person for whom it is intended. If it's a ring that he doesn't wear often, you can take it out of the jewelry box and take it to a jeweler to have it sized.

If the ring is worn every day, you can make an impression in a piece of clay or soap. Then take it to a jeweler, who will determine the size of the sample.

Wrapping thread around the finger and tying it in a knot is another creative way you can determine someone's size. You can do this while the person is sleeping, or you can figure out a way to do it so that they think it's just some kind of prank.

Sizes of bracelets

Bracelets

If you want to make sure that the bag will be fine, you can measure the hand on which you will wear it. Usually, the exact size of the bag is equal to the circumference of the bag + 2/2.5 cm. Size: Bag with a length of 20.5 cm is suitable for a hand with a circumference of up to 18.5 cm.

Measure the circumference of your arm using a tape measure, thread or paper tape. Measure just below the knuckle where you would normally wear the bracelet. If you are using a regular xaptia tape, mark the measurement with a marker or pencil, then use a line to measure the length. This will be the tour of the capital city.

Add a few extra inches to your wrist circumference for the desired bracelet fit. Depending on the type of fit you are aiming for you can add 0.70 -3.00 cm.

The type of fit depends on the bracelet model and personal preference. All purses should have a comfortable fit, except for large or thick purses, which are preferably loose, so you don't want to pull on your chest. For a delicate bracelet with a thin chain, we suggest you choose a length with a tight fit.

  • tight fit - add from 0.70 to 1.30 cm
  • comfortable fit - add from 2.00 to 2.50 cm
  • loose fit - add from 2.50 to 3.00 cm

Another way to determine your bracelet size is to measure the length of an old bracelet, including the clasp in that length.

Necklace sizes

Necklaces

There are many ways to measure your preferred necklace length when purchasing a new one.

Use the length of a necklace you already have, one that you are happy with. For accurate results, you should open the necklace, place it on a flat surface, and pull on both ends to make sure it is as straight as possible. Measure from one end to the other keeping in mind that the clasp must be included.

If you don't already have an existing necklace to use, you can use your neck size to figure out your preferred length. The easiest way is to wrap a tape measure around the base of your neck. If you don't have one you can use flexible tape and mark the point where it overlaps. Then you measure the length of the neck circumference with a ruler in centimeters.

To determine the standard size of the necklace, after measuring the circumference of the neck, add 10 cm. (Example - if your circumference is 35 cm, then the standard size of the necklace should be at least 45 cm).
